Thanks for visiting Root + Revel. If you have any questions or would like to reach out to the founder, Kate, please email her at kate@rootandrevel.com. Please take a look through these FAQ’s in case your question has already been answered.
Q: I’m a brand/editor that would love to work with you. Do you accept samples or do sponsored posts?
A: Yes, I’m available for freelance writing and recipe development, and Root + Revel is open to sponsored posts, giveaways, product reviews, brand ambassadorships, ads and more. Check out our full media kit here for stats and rates.
Know upfront that Root + Revel always discloses the nature of partnerships with brands to our readers by including a disclaimer at the beginning of any post. Honesty and transparency is tantamount at R+R, and freebies or compensation will never “buy” a positive review. We welcome the opportunity to promote brands, products and services that are in line with R+R’s mission.
Q: I really like your site. Who do you use to host Root + Revel and who designed the site?
A: Thanks! I started out with Bluehost and used them until my traffic reached over 50,000 pageviews per month. I then upgraded to a more expensive, but more feature-heavy service called Cloudways. But if you’re just starting out, Bluehost is the way to go–it’s the best, cheapest and easiest option for beginning bloggers (plus, they give you your domain name for free if you decide to host with them!).
For the first 3 years of running Root + Revel, I used The Genesis Framework and StudioPress’ Foodie Pro Theme. Everything else was done by yours truly. I can’t recommend this theme enough for food bloggers–it’s beautiful, easy to navigate, comes with a recipe index, and it’s super customizable.
But in November 2018, we launched our redesign with Purr. And we still use WP Recipe Maker as our recipe plugin.
Q: Can I use your recipe on my website or blog?
A: Thanks for asking. I’m so glad you want to share my recipes. Unfortunately, at this time, I do not allow republication of my post or recipe text without prior consent, though you are welcome to link to the recipe without reposting the content. For example, rather than posting the text of the recipe, you might say something like, “I love Root + Revel‘s recipe for Easy Shrimp Chimichurri.” If you have a specific request or question about a recipe, please feel free to email me.
Q: What about photos? Can I use your photos on my site?
A: Yes, absolutely! But under one condition–if you use one of Root + Revel’s photos on your site, you must credit the photo with two links back to R+R: one link back to the specific post the image came from and a second link back to rootandrevel.com. You might say something like, “Get the recipe for Easy Shrimp Chimichurri at Root + Revel“. Thanks for sharing!
Q: Do you follow a particular diet?
A: No. I do not believe in counting calories or restricting entire food groups, but I do try to eat an anti-inflammatory diet most days. While there are some specific foods I always try to include in my diet (like fruit with breakfast, drinking a green smoothie every day or eating mostly plant-based meals before dinner), I also believe in indulgences and enjoying life. That’s why I follow the 80-20 rule.
Q: Do you have a comment policy?
A: I absolutely love interacting with my readers and hearing from you, so please leave as many respectful, kind and/or relevant comments as you please. Anonymous online comments also test my faith in humanity regularly, so I have and will remove offensive, inappropriate, idiotic or generally rude comments in order to keep Root + Revel a positive environment.
Q: What is your privacy policy?
A: Root + Revel believes very strongly in keeping your personal information confidential. Please click here to view our complete privacy policy.
